Terms of Service

Last updated: July 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account or using CleanOS (the "App"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

2. What CleanOS does

CleanOS scans your Mac for junk files, duplicate files, unused applications, and system data, and lets you remove them. Removal actions move items to the macOS Trash where possible, so most actions are reversible until you empty the Trash.

3. Your responsibility when deleting files

CleanOS provides safety ratings (Safe / Review / Risky) as guidance, but these are heuristics, not guarantees. You are responsible for reviewing items before removing them. We strongly recommend maintaining backups before performing large cleanups. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for data loss resulting from files you chose to remove.

4. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials, including not sharing them with others. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use the App.

5. License

Upon purchase, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use CleanOS on Macs you own or control. Monthly subscriptions remain valid while paid; lifetime licenses are valid indefinitely and include updates as described at purchase. You may not resell, redistribute, reverse-engineer, or circumvent the App's licensing, including sharing your account credentials to grant access to others.

6. Payments & refunds

All sales are final. Due to the nature of digital software delivery, CleanOS does not offer refunds for either the monthly subscription or the lifetime purchase, except where required by applicable law. Monthly subscribers can cancel at any time to stop future billing — cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and no partial or prorated refund is issued for the remainder of that period.

Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store your card details.

7. Privacy

File scanning happens entirely on your Mac. The contents of your files are never uploaded, transmitted, or analyzed off-device. See the Privacy Policy for details on the limited account and purchase data we do process.

8. System requirements & distribution

CleanOS requires macOS Tahoe or later, and runs on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. CleanOS requires Full Disk Access to scan cache, log, and system directories — granting it is your choice, and the App cannot function fully without it.

CleanOS is currently distributed directly (outside the Mac App Store) and is not yet notarized by Apple. macOS may show a security warning on first launch; instructions for opening the App safely are provided on our FAQ.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The App is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free or that it will identify every removable file correctly.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim arising from the App is limited to the amount you paid for it in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, including lost data or lost profits.

11. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

12. Changes

We may update these Terms; material changes will be posted on this page with an updated date above.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario, Canada, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
