Your files stay on your Mac. CleanOS scans locally and never uploads, transmits, or analyzes the contents of your files off-device. The only data we process is what's needed to run your account and your purchase.
What we collect
Account data (via Clerk, our authentication provider): your email address, name if provided, and sign-in metadata such as timestamps.
Purchase data (via Stripe, our payment processor, and Supabase, our backend): your email, purchase history, and subscription status. We never see or store your card details.
App diagnostics: none. CleanOS does not include analytics or tracking SDKs, and does not phone home with usage data.
What we do not collect
The names, paths, or contents of your files.
Scan results — what CleanOS finds on your Mac stays on your Mac.
Browsing history, location, or contacts.
How we use data
Account and purchase data are used solely to authenticate you, deliver your entitlement, provide support, and meet legal obligations (e.g. tax records). We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Third parties
Clerk (authentication) — processes sign-in data under its own privacy policy.
Stripe (payments) — processes payment data under its own privacy policy.
Supabase (backend) — stores your entitlement status (which plan you own) so the app and website can verify it.
We share nothing with any other third party.
Data retention & deletion
Account data is kept while your account exists. You may delete your account at any time by contacting support, which removes your data from Clerk and Supabase. Purchase records are retained as required for tax and accounting law.
Security
Authentication is handled by Clerk with industry-standard encryption in transit. Sessions are stored securely on your device.
Children
CleanOS is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes
Material changes to this policy will be posted on this page with an updated date above.
